The anime begins with a pagan festival where heretics, who don’t believe in the great god that created our world, gather. During the event, participants must cut down an entire field of crops, and whoever cuts the last sheaf will become “Holo,” essentially a fox, and be locked up in a house for a week. Our merchant, Lawrence, is traveling with a carriage loaded with goods to meet Yarei, who has become Holo for this year.
Soon after, our main character, the wise wolf Holo, arrives. She was born in a world of silver-white and a place called Yoitsu. She can travel from one field of crops to another if there is a substantial amount of it. By coincidence, our merchant, Lawrence, is passing through this village when the last sheaf is remaining, and Holo travels that field from his carriage. Holo goes to his carriage because she wants to leave this village.

This anime focuses on economics, with Holo being highly knowledgeable due to her extensive experience. It also explores business and economics from a broad perspective. For example, in episode 3, our merchant Lawrence tries to sell his furs and almost makes a deal with a businessman. However, Holo senses more profit and convinces the businessman to offer 1.5 times the price that Lawrence was initially going to agree on.
As many may know, this is a remake of a show that was very popular among anime watchers in 2006. Holo was considered one of the most beautiful and intelligent waifus of that time. For a fantasy show, this is quite comfortable to watch, with relaxing background music composed by Kevin Penkin, known for his work in “Made in Abyss” and “The Apothecary Diaries.”
